What is hackX?

hackX 11.0 is Sri Lanka's premier inter-university startup challenge, organized by the Industrial Management Science Students' Association at the Department of Industrial Management, University of Kelaniya.

hackX provides a platform for undergraduate students to work in teams and transform real-world problems into innovative solutions with startup potential. Whether it is a product, service, or technology-driven solution, participants will receive guidance, mentorship, and industry exposure through multiple phases of the competition to help develop, validate, and refine their ideas into viable business ventures.

Who Can Compete

Go Solo or Build a Team

Participate individually or form a team of two to five members. All team members must be currently enrolled undergraduates from the same university or higher education institute.

Your Idea

Present an innovative startup idea, product, service, or solution that addresses a real-world problem or creates meaningful value. Your idea should demonstrate originality, practical potential, and the ability to grow into a sustainable venture.

No, it does not. At the registration stage, you only need to submit your idea and a structured proposal outlining the problem, solution, and impact. A working prototype is only required later, by the ideaX Semi-Finals on October 3. Take your time to refine the core concept first!
